COVID-19 and Vascular Health: Understanding Thrombosis and Global Expert Strategies

Leading to an ongoing pandemic, COVID-19 is a contagious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).  

Apart from mild to moderate symptoms, about 14% develop severe symptoms (dyspnea, hypoxia, or more than 50% lung involvement on imaging), and 5% suffer critical symptoms (respiratory failure, shock, or multiorgan dysfunction).  

COVID-19 seems to be related to vascular changes and thrombotic incidents, that is why the MOH decided to explore further on the topic by hosting seminars presented by experts from all around the globe.  

The MOH #1 covers different presentations and discussing various topics starting by Prof. Joseph Caprini, USA -Senior Clinician Educator at The University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine- discussing «COVID-19: A Tangled Web of Inflammation and Thrombosis». Then Prof. Jinsong Wang, China -Orthopedic Surgeon- presents the topic: «Strategy for treating vascular emergencies during the Covid-19 pandemic in China» and finally Prof. Kirill Lobastov, Russia -Phlebologist, Assistant Professor and Vascular Surgeon- talks about «Venous thromboembolism prophylaxis and treatment in Covid-19: the review of current guidelines. »
