We recently hosted a unique MOH Connect webinar, broadcast live from the renowned Lipedema Institute in Brazil. Top experts from South America, the Middle East, and Europe came together to exchange clinical insights and best practices in the treatment of lipedema. From vascular assessment and surgical techniques to live demonstrations of compression solutions, the event offered a truly global perspective on multidisciplinary care.

- Compression therapy is foundational - Compression therapy is essential in all stages of Lipedema management—pre- and post-surgery. It helps reduce inflammation, manage fibrosis, and support lymphatic flow. Techniques include multilayer bandaging, compression stockings, Velcro wraps, and pneumatic compression devices.
- Multidisciplinary care is critical - Successful Lipedema treatment requires collaboration among surgeons, physiotherapists, vascular specialists, and other healthcare professionals. Conservative therapies, surgical planning, and long-term management must be personalized and coordinated to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Lipedema is a complex disease, not a cosmetic issue - Lipedema is a pathological condition involving fat, lymphatic, and vascular systems. It often includes lymphatic dysfunction even in early stages, which can lead to fluid retention and fibrosis. Recognizing it as a systemic disease is key to effective treatment and patient support.
- Technology supports but doesn’t replace human expertise - While AI and robotic tools may assist in diagnosis and data analysis, surgical interventions—especially liposuction for Lipedema—remain highly individualized and artistic procedures that require skilled human judgment and hands-on expertise.
