The Hidden Source: Identifying Pelvic Venous Compression in the Lymphedema and Therapy Clinic

For many patients with chronic leg swelling, the true root cause lies hidden above the inguinal ligament missed by standard assessments. This Talk, featuring Dr. Joshua Trock, will explore the critical link between pelvic venous compression disorders “such as May-Thurner Syndrome” and the clinical presentations seen in lymphedema and therapy clinics. Attendees will know more about paradoxical reactions to compression garments, and specific ultrasound markers can signal central venous obstruction rather than primary lymphedema. The webinar will provide everything from patient history to appropriate referral pathways for advanced imaging and intervention.

What to expect:

  • Understand why pelvic venous compression is frequently misdiagnosed as orthopedic, gynecological, or lymphatic issues.
  • Explore the anatomy of obstruction, including May-Thurner Syndrome and pelvic venous disorders.
  • Know more about therapist’s assessment toolkit: interstitial fluid volumes, CFV reflux, SFJ measurement, and the compression paradox.
  • Navigate the definitive diagnostic pipeline: from MRI and venogram to IVUS, stenting, and embolization.
  • Review real-world case studies differentiating benign lymphedema from severe pathologies.

Join the session to gain practical strategies for identifying hidden venous compression and improving patient outcomes through accurate differential diagnosis.
